Frank Maguire retires as Director of Childcare

7th July 2008

Frank Maguire took his leave of friends and colleagues on reaching retirement and the end of his stewardship of Brentwood Catholic Children's Society.

He is succeeded by Dick Madden from the senior ranks of Essex Police, who brings many years of Child Protection experience to the job.

Dick was also, for some time, a Trustee of the Society.

In a statement, Frank commented on how much the Society had had to grow in the past decade in order to meet a combination of increasing need around the Diocese and diminishing community resources.

Equally significant were the introduction of IT which inevitably produced greater work-loads, together with a plethora of legal formalities which now impinge enormously on the Society's work.

He also paid tribute to the conscientious commitment of all staff and said that it was they who were responsible for the success and respect which the Society enjoyed.

Chairperson Collette Kelly thanked Frank for his dedicated service to the Society and wished him well in his retirement.
